TURTLE CEREMONY ON THE BEACH AT BAHIA PRINCIPE RIVIERA MAYA RESORT

Eco-Bahia Foundation organises an event to open the turtle nesting season

Young pupils from the Otoch Paal Montesorri school helped the Bahia Principe Ecological Foundation to mark the start of the sea turtle nesting season on Aventuras Beach at the Bahia Principe Riviera Maya Resort.

The complex's guests were treated to a beautiful Mayan ceremony to arouse their ecological conscience and show how we care for these animals in danger of extinction.

For Katia Cordourier, Director of Eco-Bahia, the expectations this year are promising, as the nesting protection initiatives will be stricter than last year. In 2017 we took real care of this species, and the approach this year will be even better, she pointed out.

The children painted placards to give the guests such tips as "don't switch on lights at night", "don't drop litter on the beaches", "steer clear of nests marked by the foundation" and "don't interfere with the turtles' nesting cycle when they approach the beach". The turtles begin to arrive in the month of May and continue until December with the Foundation and volunteers playing an active role, suggesting an outstanding close to the season.

Congratulations to all our colleagues at the Foundation for their wonderful efforts!
